چکیده
The computational modelling of soot formation and destruction during the combustion process is one most challenging topics in research. This paper reviews numerical models constructed at different length scales, including macroscale, mesoscale, microscale. four key stages evolution, nucleation, surface growth coagulation, agglomeration, oxidation, are first described with generally accepted mathematical formulations each stage explained. Different frameworks their pros cons then reviewed, one-equation empirical model (macroscale), two-equation semi-empirical variations population balance (mesoscale), discrete element (microscale), molecular dynamics (microscale). It concluded that accuracy required cost available two major influencing factors to be considered when selecting appropriate model. user needs assess priorities specific application evaluate options find optimal between level computation resources required.

Modelling of bone fracture and strength at different length scales: a review.
In this paper, we review analytical and computational models of bone fracture and strength. Bone fracture is a complex phenomenon due to the composite, inhomogeneous and hierarchical structure of bone. First, we briefly summarize the hierarchical structure of bone, spanning from the nanoscale, sub-microscale, microscale, mesoscale to the macroscale, and discuss experimental observations on fail...

متن کاملNetwork science of biological systems at different scales: A review.
Network science is today established as a backbone for description of structure and function of various physical, chemical, biological, technological, and social systems. Here we review recent advances in the study of complex biological systems that were inspired and enabled by methods of network science. First, we present research highlights ranging from determination of the molecular interact...
متن کاملLinear Models of Different Scales
Many statistical models for environmental studies can be run at different scales, e.g., for daily, weekly or monthly data. It is important to know how these models differ in terms of prediction. We provide some theoretical results to compare these models. We show that when there is no high order terms of explanatory variables, the small scale model yields more efficient estimators for model par...
